Ranchi/Bokaro: Central Bureau of Investigation (
CBI) sleuths landed at the doorstep of former
Jharkhand sports minister
Bandhu Tirkey and 12 others on Thursday as part of its nationwide raids across 16 premises in connection with the 2011 national games equipment purchases scam.
CBI officials said the raids were conducted in Ranchi, Dhanbad,
Bokaro, Godda and Dumka districts of Jharkhand, Patna in Bihar and Delhi. In Ranchi, the searches were carried out at the national games organizing committee (NGOC) office in Morhabadi and at the residence of Tirkey, who was recently disqualified from membership of the Jharkhand legislative assembly after being convicted in a disproportionate assets case.
CBI officials stayed put at Tirkey’s Deendayal Nagar house premises for about nine hours. Jharkhand Kabaddi Association secretary
Bipin Kumar Singh’s premises was also searched in Bokaro, officials said.
Notably, the CBI has registered two cases in connection with the National Games scam following the Jharkhand high court order of April 11, 2022.
