Ranchi: In a first, Ranchi will soon host a traffic park, spread on about three acres in
Dhurwa area, to create awareness about road safety rules, provide training on different aspects on the subject as well as serve as a unique recreation park for the children.
The state transport department along with the building construction department has begun the groundwork for the project and it is expected to be ready by this year end. The total cost of the project is pegged at around Rs 14.95 crore and will come up at the old depot of the transport department near
Jagarnathpur temple.

R S Vidhyarthi said that Ranchi will be the 11th in the country to host such a park. Chennai, Pune, Indore are among others who already have such parks.
“We have received nod to this project from the state government after which the state building construction department has floated a tender inviting rate quotations for supply and installation of different components in the park. If all goes well, we hope this park will be ready to host people in another six to eight months. Jharkhand will be the 11th state to have such a facility,” he said.
Detailing on some of the key facilities that will be set up in the park, he said, “Besides the basic greenery, the park will have installations about traffic system where one can get real time experience of driving, get lessons on how not to violate norms through different activities, among others. We are also making provision for setting up of a museum here to put up different displays,” he said.
