While we are still trying to get indulge with technology to enforce betterment in surveillance and vigilance, Vehant Technology, under the "Make In India" initiative has already started spreading its wings by installing high end AI-enabled equipment at airports for screening and traffic signals.
After installing the high end AI enabled equipment at airports for screening and traffic signals for enforcement, a big technology boost has seen in the ways the authorities enforce law and order and implement surveillance. The accuracy and efficiency has increased in tracking and detaining the traffic rule violators, says Anoop G Prabhu, Co-Founder & CTO- Vehant Technologies. In an interview with BW Businessworld, he talks about benefits of manufacturing within the country and export revenues of the company.
How is Vehant working with the government to make surveillance and vigilance when it comes to tracing anything specific?
Vehant Technologies works to implement surveillance and vigilance easily through our most innovative solutions. Our Artificial Intelligence and machine learning based solutions use advanced algorithms for image processing and recognition, object tracking and object recognition. When tracking anything specific, the systems are fully capable of automatically identifying events of interest. Our solutions are proficient in monitoring and managing traffic, under vehicle scanning and baggage scanning for presence of unacceptable or destructive objects. Vehant is a reliable name among security and surveillance solution providers offering high accuracy of recognition and has delivered to numerous security projects for the Indian government.
How is "Make In India" benefiting you and other manufacturing units?
Companies who are making products in India get preference over global security & surveillance solution providers under ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Indian government. The make in India initiative strives to transform India into a global design and manufacturing hub in line with the basic objective of this initiative, Vehant technologies, since its inception in New Delhi, has focused on building software solutions and equipment for security and surveillance within the country. The program has also forced lot of global companies to set up manufacturing bases in India for local government supplies, thereby boosting the domestic employment
Do you export? Please tell us the numbers.
Vehant technologies exports its Security screening solutions for law enforcement. The solutions are exported to more than 10 countries. Currently around 10-15 per cent of our revenue comes from exports. We look forward to reaching 25 per cent of revenue through exports in next 2-3 years. We export under vehicle scanning system, X-Ray baggage scanners and automatic number plate recognition system. Vehant’s AI based enterprise solutions and Okean Platform have received significant initial response from overseas.
What technology do you use to make your product smarter and more accurate?
Vehant offers security solutions that use thermal imaging, AI, computer vision and image processing at their core. Team at Vehant strives to leverage technical innovations on the way to enhance other security screening products and resolve global security issues. AI, video analytics and computer vision together offer various features to our products and further facilitate cloud-based enterprise analytics. The dashboards and intuitive user interface of the solutions make them easy to use and offer actionable insights for users which can help identify incident patterns captured from live videos across geographies using CV, classification and object detection. The state of the art software solutions use machine learning based vision algorithms making the solutions smart and vouch for high level of accuracy among the product offerings. We also work very closely with the academia to leverage their expertise in a certain technology area through collaborative R&D.
Any competition in the market to fear?
Vehant Technologies builds its products domestically with rigorous testing of equipment as well as software. Vehant strives to evolve with its products and thus consistently invests a substantial amount in research and development. Our key differentiating factor is the Technology level and local
support & maintenance that we offer to the clients for optimum operational efficiency of video surveillance equipment. Although the competitive product prices and growing competition in surveillance product industry is a challenge, the increased demand of AI based security systems and the advancement in research at Vehant, supports us to remain among the most sort after solution providers.
After installing all your products on airports and traffic signals, have you noticed any change in the surveillance method?
After installing the high end AI enabled equipment at airports for screening and traffic signals for enforcement, a big technology boost is seen in the ways the authorities enforce law and order and implement surveillance. The accuracy and efficiency has increased in tracking and detaining the traffic rule violators. The authorities claim that installation of tech solutions at traffic junctions has assisted significantly in managing traffic and enforcing law and order. The violators are detected and tracked in real time and the count is significantly controlled. The equipment installed at airports with advanced AI for detection would reduce the congestion of passengers at the security check points, owing to the speed and accuracy of the baggage scanning equipment.
What is your future plan in terms of product development and expansion?
The research & development team at Vehant strives to generate ideas and develop concepts to enhance the AI-based products with more efficient algorithms in order to offer pre-eminent products thus increasing the scope of expansion in terms of Vehant’s market reach. We offer a broad range of AI based solutions among smart and safe city analytics and enterprise analytics. The key future driver for video analytics in future would be IoT and cloud based services now offered by Vehant. The team is also working on developing more complex security screening solutions for airport security in the areas of baggage and human checking. We also collaborate with academia across India in IIT’s and IIIT’s for cutting edge problems.
