THANE: The magistrate's court in Thane has rejected the bail plea of Marathi TV actor
Ketki Chitale who was arrested for posting derogatory comments against NCP leader Sharad Pawar on social media.
The bail plea came up for hearing in the court of BH Parmar, who after hearing the arguments of the prosecution and defence counsel denied relief to the actor, stating that the crime was of a serious nature, Chitale's counsel Yogesh Deshpande told TOI.
He said that he had argued in the court about the manner in which Chitale was arrested without complying with the norms under CrPC and the number of cases being registered against her by using the government machinery and political might. Also, there is no direct reference of Sharad Pawar in the post, Deshpande said. The prosecution contended that it's a serious case and Chitale should not be given any relief. Presently, Chitale is in the judicial custody after the Navi Mumbai police had arrested her in another atrocity case registered against her in 2020.
