Biryani shop shooting planned in jail: Detective wing of the Barrackpore Commissionerate

KOLKATA: The detective wing of the Barrackpore Commissionerate on Wednesday claimed to have cracked the mystery behind the shooting at a popular biryani outlet at Barrackpore’s Mohanpur.
Police said, notorious gangster Sujit Roy, who is lodged in Dum Dum jail in connection with the murder of BJP leader Manish Shukla, masterminded the shooting after shop owner Bapi Das refused to pay a hefty amount to a gang of local extortionists led by Roy. Two persons, including the shooter, were already arrested.
“After tracking down the WhatsApp number and interrogating the arrested duo, we came to know about Roy. After producing him in a Barrackpore court, we took him into custody,” Barrackpore commissionerate detective chief Ajay Thakur told TOI.
