Chennai: The
DMK government is working towards empowering youth, not only through basic education, but also through higher education, skill training and providing them with suitable jobs with attractive salaries as per their capabilities, said chief minister
MK Stalin in Chennai on Wednesday.
He was speaking at the first Youth Skill Development festival at the Queen Mary’s College in the city. Ensuring that youth meet their expectations would help them use their skills for the development of the nation, he said. Earlier, the chief minister visited the stalls of SHGs and interacted with its members and inaugurated the exhibition.
Tamil Nadu was the forerunner in establishing
a Tamil Nadu Skill Development Mission, way back in 2010, when other states had not even thought about it, he said. The ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ scheme also aimed at equipping youth to handle new-age technologies. He said it was proposed to educate, empower with knowledge and develop skills of five lakh youth in state every year.
