MLC polls: Gurikar and others file nominations

Dharwad: Five candidates filed their nomination for the election to legislative council from West Teachers’ constituency at the deputy commissioner’s office here on Wednesday.
Congress nominee Basavaraj Gurikar submitted two sets of papers to assistant election officer and Dharwad DC Gurudatt Hegde.
He was accompanied by MLAs HK Patil, Prasad Abbayya, MLC Saleem Ahmed and former chairman of legislative council Veeranna Mattikatti.
Shrishail Gadadinni submitted his papers as Janata Dal (S) candidate.
Independents Krishnavani Shrinivasgouda, PM Karibasappa, Tulasappa K Dasar and Venkanagouda R Govindgoudar also filed their nominations.
Shandy, fairs banned
DC Gurudatt Hegde has issued orders banning shandies, fairs and other celebrations on June 12 and 13 in places of polling to ensure free and fair polling for the legislative council.
