KOLHAPUR:
Sakshi Pandit, a final-year mechanical engineering student of the
Kolhapur Institute of Technology has been selected for Dr
Kalpana Chawla scholarship for Space Studies Program-2022 at the International Space University-ISU.
It is a dedicated uiversity for space research situated in
France since 1987. The nine-week scholarship’s total amount is 8500 Euros (approximately Rs 7 lakh).
Sakshi has been selected by the international committee on the basis of her educational merit, mini-projects, educational workshops and her interest in space research.
ISU is located at Strasbourg in France and is well connected worldwide through a incredible network. USA, France, the Asia-Pacific region and space research centres across the world have collaborated with International Space University.
Talking about her selection, Sakshi said, “Since childhood, I had interest in space studies. I started going for various workshops offering sky viewing facility since my Class IX. There’s a saying that ‘If there is a will, there is way.’ I have been selected for scholarship for space study programme and I am very happy about it. I am also thankful to my mentor Leena Bokil as well as all the KIT college staff”.
