Verbal spat between Akhilesh Yadav and Keshav Prasad Maurya: Yogi Adityanath says unparliamentary language unacceptable

LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday criticised Samajwadi Party chief and leader of the opposition Akhilesh Yadav for launching a verbal offensive against senior BJP leader and deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and 'violating the decorum of the house'.
Speaking in the assembly, Yogi said it was the right of a member to speak in the house and it is the duty of everyone to listen. "Use of unparliamentary language against a senior BJP leader is unacceptable," Yogi cautioned, urging the Speaker to expunge the comments made by the LoP.
He recalled how Akhilesh turned hostile even against parliamentary affairs minister Suresh Khanna on the first day of the budget session. Akhilesh had shouted at Khanna after the latter said that the opposition should wipe out the thought from their mind that anything wrong would be allowed to happen.
A visibly angry Akhilesh had stood up and asked the Speaker if such should be the language of the parliamentary affairs minister.
Yogi stressed that political leaders may have differences of opinion but they can always get them addressed and sorted out later. “But such a behaviour will send out a wrong message across the country and also for the coming generations,” he said.
The CM said that maintaining the dignity of the house was of utmost importance for each member. “No one should be allowed to speak in between and use threatening language,” he said, acknowledging that Akhilesh was the leader of the biggest opposition party in the house and should follow the decorum.
Yogi also asserted that conducting development works was the duty of an elected government and the ruling party had all the rights to highlight its achievements.
Meanwhile, former UP minister and BJP MLA Sidharth Nath Singh said the leader of opposition has also been a former CM and the way he commented on deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya was completely unacceptable. This shows Akhilesh has no affinity for backward classes.
Keshav Maurya’s remark triggers hostile gestures by Akhilesh Yadav
A verbal duel erupted between deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and leader of opposition Akhilesh Yadav in the UP assembly after the former remarked that the SP president took credit for various development projects as if he did it by selling land in his home village Saifai. Maurya’s jibe stung Akhilesh so much that he lost his cool.
Tum apne Pitaji se paise leke aaye they? Ye ration bant rahe ho...,” a furious Yadav said, yanking down his microphone attached to his table. His hostile gesture triggered a frenzy in the opposition camp as a host of SP lawmakers stood up and started shouting at the treasury benches. It was countered by the treasury benches as well. Speaker Satish Mahana tried to salvage the situation and it was after his consistent perusal that BJP and SP leaders settled down.
