Bidisha De Majumdar, 21-year-old model, found hanging at rented flat in Kolkata

KOLKATA: A 21-year-old model was found hanging at her rented apartment in Nagerbazar on Wednesday. Police said, Bidisha De Majumdar had moved into the apartment barely a month-and-a-half back and, according to her family and friends, was going through a very troubled relationship.
On Wednesday evening, cops received a call from Bidisha’s friend after which they reached the apartment and broke open the door to find her hanging. They also recovered a suicide note in which Bidisha has reportedly not blamed anyone for her death.

Bidisha’s parents lodged a complaint at the Nagerbazar police station and an unnatural death case has been started. A post-mortem will be conducted at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Thursday.
According to family sources and friends, Bidisha originally hailed from Naihati and had taken up freelance modelling as a profession in 2019. She was staying alone in the Nagerbazar apartment and had been busy with work.
However, friends said she showed signs of depression — and even referred to ending her life more than once — over a troubled relationship with a gym trainer and an entrepreneur.
According to Bidisha’s friends — one with whom she had chatted till 4am on Wednesday — her boyfriend was into multiple relationships. “She had a torrid relationship with her boyfriend, something which she discussed with her close friends. She was tense and depressed. We often tried to cheer her up and boosted her to look at the brighter side of life. She was doing well and getting assignments. But she could never get over her relationship issues,” said a close friend.
