Jaipur: A 21-year-old mountaineer used his climbing skills to steal cameras from a shop in Kotwali area to buy an expensive phone.
DCP (North) Paris Deshmukh said police have arrested four accused, including the one who purchased the stolen item from thieves.
Police identified the mountaineer as
Raghav Pareek, a resident of Sikar, while two other accused were listed as Naman
Tiwari (21) and
Pravish Khandelwal (30). The fourth accused, Neeraj Sharma, was held in New Delhi for buying stolen cameras.
A team including Kotwali SHO Om
Prakash Matwa and sub-inspector Hemant Janagal said Pareek used to do mountaineering during camping trips. Police said the theft took place on April 21. Pareek, Tiwari and Khandelwal hatched a conspiracy to steal electronic products including cameras from the shop.
As per the planning, Pareek allegedly used ropes and other mountaineering equipment to climb and pack important items from the shop.
The accused then travelled to New Delhi where they sold the products to Sharma. The accused divided the money amongst themselves and with the money Pareek brought an expensive phone.
“The accused stole six cameras. We had examined the CCTVs and zeroed in on the accused,” said an official, adding that Pareeek’s family runs a business in Shrimadhopur of Sikar district.
