Disney+ is inviting you to get your Gleek on. All six seasons of the highly popular Fox teen musical series will be heading to the streamer on June 1, kicking off the month in programming with a bang.
June will also see the launch of several high profile original series to the streamer. “Ms. Marvel,” the latest Marvel Studios production, will premiere its first episode on June 8. The series stars newcomer Iman Vellani in the title role, and will lead into the upcoming theatrical film “The Marvels.” Later in the month, on June 29, “Big Hero 6” spinoff “Baymax!” will release all episodes. The six-episode animated series follows the popular “Big Hero 6” character Baymax as he sets out to provide healthcare services to people in need, getting into mishaps along the way.
June 24 will see the release of two new films to Disney+. “Rise,” a sports biopic directed by Akin Omotoso, tells the true story of the Antetokounmpo brothers, three young Nigerian men who immigrate with their parents to Greece and discover natural talent in basketball, ultimately pursuing careers in the NBA. Newcomers Uche Agada, Ral Agada and Jaden Osimuwa portray Giannis, Athanasios and Kostantinos Antetokounmpo. The same day will see the premiere of a filmed-version of off-Broadway stage production “Trevor: the Musical.” Based on the 1995 Oscar-winning short film, “Trevor” follows a 13-year old boy who struggles with bullying due to his sexuality. The original film is notable for inspiring the non-profit organization The Trevor Project.
Plus, content from Disney affiliates will hit the streamer throughout the month, including Freeform teen drama “Grown-ish” and ABC family sitcom “The Wonder Years” on June 15, and animated Disney Channel series “Owl House” on June 29.
