Mercury may touch 42 degree Celsius in Gurugram in next 4 days

GURUGRAM: The maximum temperature in Gurugram was recorded at 33.7 degrees Celsius on Wednesday while the minimum touched 25 degrees. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the sky will remain clear for the next four days and the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover between 42 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius respectively. However, heatwave conditions are unlikely for the next four days. “It is expected that the temperature will remain in the normal ranges for the next four days. There is no likelihood of rain or dust storm for Gurugram in the coming four days,” said an IMD official. Sky remained clear throughout the day, but there was no extreme heat condition.
According to IMD, the maximum temperature rose to 34.4 degrees Celsius, six degrees below normal, at Safdarjung which is the city’s base station, on Wednesday. Najafgarh recorded a high of 35.9 degrees Celsius, followed by Pitampura at 35.7 degrees Celsius. Lodhi Road, Palam, and Ayanagar recorded day temperatures at 34.8, 34.6, and 34.2 degrees Celsius, respectively. The minimum temperature was reported at 23.6 degrees Celsius, three degrees below normal. The relative humidity oscillated between 91% and 45%. IMD officials said the maximum temperature is likely to rise gradually after a sudden dip in temperature due to rain on Monday. The maximum temperature is expected to rise to 37 degrees Celsius on Thursday and may reach 39 degrees Celsius on Friday. “It is likely to touch 40 degrees Celsius on May 28 and may rise further to 41 degrees Celsius by May-end.
