LUCKNOW: Leader of the opposition
Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday questioned the Yogi government’s development works and even challenged to name any project or investment that might have come in UP despite holding groundbreaking ceremonies.
Speaking in the assembly on vote of thanks on the Governor’s address,
Akhilesh spoke in detail about various projects that have come up in the last five years.
Akhilesh said as per the Niti Aayog report, UP was among the last four when it comes to education in the state. “UP is the biggest contributor to poverty index in the country. UP is known for midday meal scam, maximum notices on fake encounters, maximum number of cyber crimes and crime against women,” Akhilesh said, citing the Niti Aayog report.
Speaking on crime against Dalits, Akhilesh said that recently a Dalit youth was beaten and forced to lick the feet of his attackers in a viral video.
Recalling achievements of the SP government, Akhilesh said that Lucknow-Agra Expressway was still rated as the best infrastructure development project in the country while on the other side
Purvanchal Expressway, whose design was made during SP rule, had a bumpy ride.
“The CM likes Ekana Stadium in Lucknow which was built during the SP rule as he holds programmes like distribution of smartphones, felicitation of Olympians and even swearing in ceremony there, but no international matches are held. I hope that international matches will also be played soon,” Akhilesh said.
Speaking on Purvanchal Expressway, Akhilesh said despite the government making free toilets, no facility has come up on Purvanchal Expressway. “However, toll collection has started on the expressway,” he added.
Akhilesh also hit out at the government for implicating senior leaders like
Azam Khan and added that the university was not built in Rampur for anyone’s personal use but for the youth. He also cited how the petrol pump of SP MLA Shazil Islam in Bareilly was demolished.
