SP's Dimple Yadav strategy could hit Jayant's Chances for Rajya Sabha

The SP lending support to former Congressman Kapil Sibal for the Rajya Sabha seat is being seen as a quid pro quo gesture for helping senior SP leader Azam Khan procure interim bail from the Supreme Court, causing his release after more than two years. Similarly, SP's second RS nominee Javed Ali Khan has the blessings of senior leader Ram Gopal Yadav. But RLD chief and SP ally Jayant Chaudhary is finding himself on a sticky wicket now as he was promised a seat before elections but Dimple Yadav has become a serious contender for the third and final SP seat.

"We want to form an alliance staying in the opposition to oppose the Modi government and create an atmosphere in 2024 so that the Modi government's faults reach the people," Sibal said. Yadav lauded Sibal's efficiency to raise matters in the House and his legal proficiency.
