Call to bring forward summer break

Bhubaneswar: With the western Odisha districts are reeling under severe heatwave conditions, parents and teachers have demanded the state government to bring forward the summer vacation for students.
Even though children are going to school from 6 am to 9 am, they reach home around 10.30 am after having mid-day meal when the sun is at its peak. The demand for summer break has increased after the photo of a student of Dumerjor Government Upper Primary School in Nuapada district lying unconscious in the school due to heat exhaustion went viral on social media. “For the sake of kids’ safety, the government should consider announcing summer vacation earlier,” said Eepsit Suna, a social worker.
