Yashovarma, Veerendra Heggade’s brother-in-law, passes away in Singapore

Mangaluru: B Yashovarma, brother-in-law of Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade, passed away at a hospital in Singapore late on Sunday night, after a period of brief illness.
Yashovarma was 67. He is survived by his wife and two children. He was the brother of Hemavathi Heggade, wife of Veerendra Heggade.
The native of Peradi Beedu in Moodbidri taluk was the son of Jain High School teacher, popularly known as Kannada pandit, late T Raghuchandra Shetty and Peradi Beedu Pushpavathi Shetty.
After obtaining a post-graduate degree in botany, he served as a lecturer at JSS College (Dharwad). After his retirement as the principal of SDM College (Ujire), he served as the secretary of SDM Educational Institutions.
Yashovarma was the president of Belthangady Rotary Club and Jain Milan. He was also the president of Belthangady taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat and secretary of Dharmasthla’s religious and literary conventions. His passing away has been mourned by prominent personalities in the district.
Funeral today
According to a release from Dharmasthala, the mortal remains of Dr Yashovarma would arrive at Bengaluru from Singapore on Tuesday by a flight arranged with help from the central government. The mortal remains would then by transported by road to Ujire. When the vehicle enters Charmadi village at 12.30pm, it would be decorated with flowers and brought to Ujire from Charmadi Mathuru Panchalingeshwara Temple in a vehicle. From Ujire Pete, the vehicle would be taken to SDM College in Ujire by padayatra. The body would be kept for the public to pay their respects at SDM College from 2pm to 5.30pm.
Ujire Merchants’ Association will down the shutters from 12 noon to 7pm in respect to the departed.
Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja is overseeing the arrangements for the final journey of Dr Yashovarma. The funeral would take place immediately after public viewing at Neeruchilume, Kanyadi, which is near the college.
