Punjabi eligibility test compulsory for candidates competing for Group C and D posts in Punjab

Chandigarh : The Punjab government has made it compulsory that candidates competing for Group C and D posts of state government will have to clear the Punjabi eligibility test with at least 50% marks.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann took this decision while chairing a meeting with the officers today at his official residence. In order to promote Punjabi language, Mann said that it would now be mandatory for all the candidates appearing for recruitment for Group C and D posts to qualify the Punjabi eligibility test with minimum 50% marks prior to competing for the requisite recruitment exam for the respective posts.


Officials also informed during the meeting that the state government has already kick-started a recruitment drive with 26,454 jobs, including a large number of posts from amongst Group ‘C’ and ‘D’. The meeting was also attended by chief secretary Anirudh Tewari, chief minister’s additional chief secretary A Venu Prasad, principal secretary higher education and languages Jaspreet Talwar, secretary employment generation Kumar Rahul.
