Only 2 new cases of Covid on Monday

Nagpur: After reporting new Covid cases in double digits for the first time in May on Sunday, Vidarbha on Monday detected only two new infections. Both the patients are from Nagpur district.
One patient from Washim recovered on Monday. Now, Vidarbha has 26 patients under treatment — 11 in Nagpur and 10 in Amravati. The two big cities of Vidarbha account for most of the active cases while other parts of the region are mostly Covid-free.
The 11 districts in the region conducted 1,228 tests in the last 24 hours. As it was Sunday, test count was significantly low in most of the districts. Bhandara, Wardha, Gondia, Yavatmal, Buldhana and Akola have no active cases of Covid. Gadchiroli, Chandrapur and Washim have two patients each under treatment. Majority of the under-treatment patients are recovering in home isolation.
In 23 days of May, Vidarbha has reported 90 new cases, 73 recoveries and the lone death was in Gadchiroli. Statistically, May 2022 is the month with lowest new cases and deaths so far in the last 24 months.
