Coimbatore: A 30-year-old wall painter died at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on Monday without responding to treatment after he and his lover consumed poison in their homes at Rathinapuri in the city on Sunday evening. The woman is undergoing treatment at the

Police said Vinothkumar often visited his friend
Senthikumar’s house located in the same area and befriended his wife Eswari, 27, around three years ago. Over time, it developed into an extramarital affair and Senthilkumar came to know about it. He advised his friend and his wife to end the relationship. However, they continued the relationship. When their relatives also learned about the relationship, the couple decided to end their lives.
On Sunday evening, Vinothkumar met Eswari at her residence and gave her a bottle of poison. He told her that he was planning to end his life by consuming poison and asked her to follow the same. After he returned home, both consumed it and fell unconscious in their respective homes. They were later rushed to the CMCH by their family members.
Vinothkumar died at the hospital on Monday morning. The body was handed over to his family members after postmortem. Eswari is undergoing treatment at the CMCH. The Rathinapuri police registered a case and further investigation is on.
