Instagram gets a new look design Heres whats changed
Instagram has got a ‘Visual Refresh’. That’s what the photo and video-sharing platform prefers to call its revamping of the look and the feel of the platform. With the Visual Refresh, the colours, typeface, logo and other elements of the brand will undergo a makeover. Here is a succinct overview of what’s all changing.

The Instagram gradient has been given “vibrant colours to make it feel illuminated and alive”, and a new typeface Instagram Sans will now be included in the design. Also, the app will have a new layout and design system in place. Instagram says that the new design system “puts content at the centre, with a focus on simplicity and self-expression.”

The gradient

Instagram says that it has used an “innovative 3D modelling process” to make its gradient more vibrant and alive. “Through illumination, the gradient signals moments of discovery in our marketing, logo and even in-app as seen in Create mode, stickers and Instagram Story rings. We’re excited to bring life to the Instagram experience through the energy of our reimagined gradient.”, said the social media platform in a website post.

The new typeface: Instagram Sans

Instagram says that while designing Sans, the goal was “to make the typeface globally accessible”, which it says was brought about by partnering with language experts around the world to adapt the typeface to global scripts including Arabic, Thai and Japanese. The Instagram Sans typeface is “inspired by the design elements our community sees every day — our logo and wordmark. From billboards to websites, our new typeface highlights our distinct identity.” The new typeface will be a part of Instagram Stories and Reels.
