Director with IT ministry jumps to death from Shastri Bhawan

NEW DELHI: A 55-year-old scientist working with the IT ministry died after he jumped from the seventh floor of Shastri Bhawan on Monday. Rakesh Mallik was the IT director at National Informatics Centre.
Police said at 3.06 pm, they received a call about a person falling off the bhawan. “Police arrived at the spot and found that one person identified as Rakesh Mallik was found dead in front of Gate No. 2 of Shastri Bhawan,” DCP (New Delhi) Amrutha Guguloth said.
Mallik, who lived in west Delhi’s Peeragarhi, is survived by his wife and two daughters. “We have not found any suicide note and no foul play suspected,” an officer said. His family has made no allegations.
