LUCKNOW: On the first day of the
Uttar Pradesh budget session, chief minister
Yogi Adityanath welcomed the new members of the legislative assembly and appealed to the opposition parties to maintain the dignity of the house.
This is the first session of the assembly after the new government was sworn in.
“Everyone will get the opportunity to express views and opinions. Once the environment is conducive, the government will be able to consider every issue. We will present the budget for 2022-2023 on May 26. The budget is for the development and welfare of 25 crore people of the state. I hope everyone will participate in this process and contribute their bit to get it passed so that positive change can be brought to the lives of the people,” the CM said.
Maintain dignity of House: CM to Opposition leadersAs the largest assembly of the country, the house proceedings will be discussed not only by the 25 crore people of
Uttar Pradesh but also in every other state,” Yogi said, adding that it was imperative to maintain the ‘garima’ (dignity) of the house and the opposition should help in creating such an atmosphere where productive debates could take place.
“The behaviour of our MLAs will be discussed across the country. I request you to behave in a manner that does not go against the dignity of the house. In the last five years, we have worked for the welfare of the poor and development of the state. The house is the platform to discuss all these issues,” he said.
Stating that the Governor’s speech was an opportunity for discussion without screaming and shouting, he said: “We have received the Governor’s guidance in matters of development and public welfare. On the first day of the budget session, the MLAs will get to learn a lot from her speech, not just about the past achievements of this government but also about the schemes for future. A serious discussion on issues will increase the dignity of this house.”
The CM said that the government was always ready for discussion on issues related to the welfare of the people.
“Such a discussion would only be possible if the opposition cooperates,” the CM said.
