Maharashtra: 2 children among 6 dead in accident in Solapur district

KOLHAPUR: Six people - two couples and their children - died in an accident on Sunday evening at the Mohol-Pandharpur road in Solapur district.
According to the police, all the deceased were originally from Jaysingpur town in Kolhapur. "They were currently living in Mohol and were travelling to Pandharpur along with their children. The car in which the deceased were travelling was hit by another vehicle driven by one Anil Hundekari," a police officer said.
The deceased have been indentified as Mujaheed Imam Attar, Afrin Attar (both doctors) and their 10-year-old son Arfat, Irfan Khan, Benezir Khan and their two-year-old daughter Inaya.
A female relative of the deceased, Irfan's 10-year-old son Arhan and Hundekari sustained serious injuries in the accident and are undergoing treatment at a Solapur-based public hospital.
Assistant police inspector Rajkumar Dunuge said the bodies were handed over to the relatives after autopsy.
"After ascertaining the sequence of events, driver Anil Hundekari has been held responsible for the fatal accident and accordingly, a first information report (FIR) has been filed," the police officer said.
