KOTA: At least four people were killed on the spot while five others sustained injuries after a passenger bus rammed into a truck on NH–27 in
Kota district early Tuesday morning.
The mishap occurred at around 3am when the bus was heading towards Kanpur from Rajkot, Gujarat.
The actual reason behind the mishap is yet to be probed, prima facie, the driver slightly lost control over the steering and the bus rammed into truck from behind, the SP said, adding the four bodies were placed in the mortuary for postmortem after arrival of their family members while the five injured people are under treatment at hospital.
The deceased were identified as
Virendra, resident of Jhansi in UP, Narayan (38) of Gwalior in MP,
Jitendra Singh of Etawah in UP, Jitu alias Jitendra Singh (32) of Mainpuri in UP while the 5 injured as Sitaram (35) of Kanpur (Rural), Vikram (22), Shriram (24), Devendra (25), all 3 of Shivpuri in MP and Sonu (19) of Patna in Bihar.
The driver of the bus reportedly flung his neck out of the window at driver seat to spit tobacco that allegedly imbalanced the bus leading it to the mishap, DSP and CO of Simliya police station area Netra Pal Singh told.
The bus driver fled away the spot after the mishap, he added. Around 50 passengers were traveling in the bus.
