Due to derailment of the wagons, brake shoes of some coaches were also damaged.
KANPUR: Two wagons of a Mathura-bound goods train derailed near Chaubepur railway station in Kanpur on Tuesday morning.
Due to the disruption of the rail route, Chapra Express and several other trains remained stationed near Barrarajpur station and Mandhana stations for about two hours.
Due to derailment of the wagons, brake shoes of some coaches were also damaged.
“In an attempt to take the goods train safely by its driver, the rail route up to five hundred meters got damaged,” said senior railway officials.
A cattle that came in the way of the train and got stuck in the engine of the goods train is said to be the cause behind the incident.
Section engineer Zaheer Khan along with other staff members went to the spot and launched a massive exercise to restore the route.
Trains were stopped by caution on both sides.
"Repair work has started on a war footing note to restore the route," said the official.
