KALYAN: Paving the way for allotment of 3,500 houses built under the Basic Services to Urban Poor (BSUP) scheme to beneficiaries, the state government on Monday decided to waive off the money that the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (
KDMC) was required to pay it for the houses.
These houses, though built under the BSUP scheme several years ago, could nto be handed over to the beneficiaries because of the state government's condition that the KDMC pay the state government according to the market price. However, Member of
Parliament from
Kalyan Shrikant Shinde brought the issue to the notice of Maharashtra Urban Development Minister
Eknath Shinde. Shinde on Monday held a meeting with senior officials over the issue and instructed the government to waive the amount.
The central government had already waived of the money it was supposed to receive from the civic body.
