Day after 6-year-old’s death, borewell owner booked

Jalandhar: Hoshiarpur police have booked the farmer in whose fields six-year-old Ritik Roshan fell and died on Sunday in Khiala Balanda village of the district. Farmer Satvir Singh has been booked for death due to negligence and for violating orders of the deputy commissioner to close the abandoned borewells. Ritik had climbed the shaft to escape dogs. When pulled out after seven hours, he was dead. The Punjab government announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for his parents, who are farm labourers. TNN
