Gurgaon: Prolonged power cuts were reported across several parts of both old and new Gurgaon on Monday, as the power distribution network failed to cope with two hours of rain and thunderstorms. Discom officials said uprooted trees damaged electricity infrastructure, resulting in outages.
Many parts of the city reported eight to 12 hours of power cuts on Monday, with some areas with no power supply even by the night.
DHBVN officials said around 260 electric poles, over 32 transformers and 11kV and 33kV transmission lines have been damaged.
Meanwhile, residents of Sector 23A filed a police complaint against
MCG and a private company for digging up roads and damaging power lines. The sector had no power from 4am till 10am on Monday. “We were told there will be zero power cuts as there are no overhead high-tension power lines. But we were told a lie. Trees fell on low-tension domestic lines,” said Bhawani Shankar
