Civil Lines police station premises looks better with proper parking arrangements
PRAYAGRAJ: Forget, musty old building with unclaimed vehicles gathering dust, paan-masala spitting spots, dirty toilets, and people waiting to file their complaint. Instead, police stations in Sangam City are all set to welcome visitors with clean and green environment, proper parking arrangements, potable water, better sitting arrangement and welcome desk.
Thanks to the gazetted police officials, posted at Prayagraj district who have helped all the police stations of the district to get a complete makeover.
A month back, every gazetted police officers posted in Sangam City and ranking from Deputy SPs to additional director general of police (ADG) had adopted police stations of the city (one gazetted cop – one police station) for its better maintenance and management. After a series of innovative ideas and work, all the police stations located in city, trans-Ganga and trans-Yamuna have got a complete makeover.
Interestingly, two of the city based police stations – Civil Lines and Cantt- have got appreciation from top police brass for renovation works. While ADG (Prayagraj zone) Prem Prakash had adopted Cantt police station, inspector general of police (Prayagraj range) Rakesh Singh adopted Civil Lines police station. IG Singh told TOI, “ Positive approach and innovative ideas have helped the department as majority of police stations have got a complete makeover”. He further added, “We would be adopting more innovative ideas to turn all police station as ideal police stations”.
IG, meanwhile, said, “ Once a gazetted police officer was allotted a thana for makeover, the official, apart from his or her routine administrative work, closely analysed the status to offer better civic facilities at the police station concerned and took corrective measures accordingly to upgrade sanitation facility, clean potable water availability, separate male and female toilets, better sitting arrangements at visitor’s gallery, upgraded barrack upkeep, uninterrupted power supply, plantation in and around thana premises, painting work, disposal of scraps and other work.”
Police officers have conducted videography of ‘then’ and ‘now’ status of police stations. The videos were submitted before the office of IG (Prayagraj zone) and senior cops went through the makeover task. IG,meanwhile, said, “Suitably maintained police stations are a step towards maintaining discipline. Once police stations get a complete make over, the police personnel working there will also get a better working atmosphere. This exercise has bridged the police-public gap also.
A monthback, top police brasses while conducting surprise checks of police stations had recorded poor upkeep and maintenance of police stations. However, things have improved to a major extent. More importantly, cops have found to give a better look topolice stations after removing unclaimed vehicles or scraps lying inside and outside the police stations. These scraps have been shifted to two junkyards of police located at Jhunsi and Naini. When required, the concerned articles would be fetched or recovered.”
