1 dies in Punjab, but Covid cases drop across region

CHANDIGARH/SHIMLa: Fresh Covid cases witnessed a drop in Haryana on Sunday, with the state reporting 160 new cases and 253 recoveries during the day. On the other hand, Punjab and Himachal recorded 10 and seven cases respectively.
Apart from the fresh cases, Punjab has also reported 1 death during the past 24 hours. According to the state health department, 1,113 cases are active in Haryana now, out of which 18 are hospitalised. In Punjab, 115 cases are active, while the positivity rate was recorded at 0.08%. In Himachal, 63 cases are active while 15 patients have recovered during the day. In Haryana, the highest 120 cases were reported from Gurgaon, followed by 18 cases from Faridabad, six cases each from Panchkula and Karnal. Kaithak, Jhajar, Sonipat, Rohtak and Hisar districts reported two cases.
On the vaccination front, the first dose was given to 992 people in Haryana, while 2,691 received their second dose. In Punjab, a total of 7,306 persons were vaccinated, out of which 824 got their first dose and 6,482 got the second jab.
