Erik Ten Hag spoke candidly in his first-ever interview as Manchester United manager, and the Dutchman has his sights on restoring the Premier League club to the summit of world football.
The 52-year-old signed a three-year contract and faces a huge task to revive the Red Devils fortunes after a fifth consecutive trophyless season.Ten Hag becomes the fifth permanent manager at Old Trafford since Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013 sent the 20-time English champions into decline.
Speaking to the club's official website, the former Ajax Amsterdam mentor, who has been previously linked with Tottenham Hotspur, said that he is excited about the big task turning around the fortunes of United.
"I really look forward to doing this job at this club with massive history and we want to restore it, where it belongs," he said.
Meanwhile, Man United have also confirmed the appointment of Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren as Ten Hag's coaching assistants.
