The NSE Nifty index closed 51.45 points down at 16214.7, while BSE Sensex ended down 37.78 points at 54288.61.
On the other hand, .(down 13.24 per cent), .(down 12.61 per cent), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(down 9.45 per cent), .(down 4.20 per cent) and .(down 3.72 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
