MSU yet to issue notification to hire temporary teachers

Vadodara: Even as M S University has slipped into vacation mode and it is heading towards a new academic session, the university seems to be simply lacking behind when it comes to preparing in advance for the new session.
The new academic session at the university will start in mid-June. But the university has simply not issued notification for recruitment of temporary teachers, who are the backbone of the teaching workload. The publicly funded university depends on nearly 600 temporary teachers, who are involved in the academics right from the time of admission to conducting classes and eventually taking exams of students.
Usually, notification for recruitment of temporary teachers is issued in April so that by the time the new academic session begins, the interviews and appointments of the teaching staff get over.
But this year, there has been an inordinate delay in this process, which has raised concerns over the schedule of the new academic year.
The temporary teachers, who are currently working in various departments and faculties of the university, have been given extension till June. “But in the absence of the notification, there are concerns on how the admission process will get over and how we will begin classes for students,” said a teacher.
MSU’s officiating registrar Dr K M Chudasama was not available for comment. But sources in the university administration said that the university was seeking guidance from the state government before issuing notification for hiring temporary teachers.
