Several parts of Delhi and the surrounding areas suffered power cuts due to heavy rain and strong winds early this morning. Flight operations at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport were also disrupted due to inclement weather, with some airlines advising travellers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.

"Due to bad weather, flight operations at Delhi airport are affected. Passengers are requested to get in touch with the airline concerned for updated flight information," Delhi Airport tweeted.

tweeted that the bad weather in Delhi may affect departures and arrivals at the airport and requested its passengers to keep a check on their flight status.

"Due to bad weather in Delhi (DEL), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may get affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status," it tweeted.

IndiGo also issued a travel advisory for its passengers, asking them to keep enough travel time in hand while traveling to the airport.

"#6ETravelAdvisory: It's pouring in #Delhi. Flight departures and arrivals are getting impacted. Keep enough travel time in hand while traveling to the airport. To check your flight status https://bit.ly/2ThVfU6. For assistance DM us on Twitter/Facebook," it wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that thundershower with moderate intensity rain and gusty winds with speed of 60-90 Km/h would continue to occur over and adjoining areas of entire Delhi and NCR during the next two hours.

Strong winds and heavy rain uprooted trees in parts of Delhi which resulted in roads getting blocked.

IMD said that impact on vulnerable structures, kutcha houses, traffic and visibility is expected and suggested people to stay indoors and avoid travel if possible.
