Bommai on Sunday announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the kin of nine people killed in a ghastly accident at Baad Cross near
Dharwad in the wee hours of Saturday.
Bommai said that based on an appeal by
Union parliamentary affairs minister
Pralhad Joshi, the compensation had been released from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
Nine persons, of them three children, were killed, and 12 were injured when a cruiser tempo taxi in which they were travelling hit a roadside tree at Baada Cross on the Dharwad-Halyal Road.
The victims were returning to their village, Nigadi, after a betrothal ceremony, which was just 5 km away.
