Video of Dumka teen thrashing girl goes viral, probe on

Dumka: The Dumka police on Sunday launched a probe after a video of a boy kicking a girl under Gopikandar police station area went viral on social media. The video was uploaded on Saturday and chief minister Hemant Soren retweeted the clip in the morning and asked police to take action against the person concerned.
Dumka police has identified the assaulter, who is 16 years old, and the victim, who is also a minor (15). Both of them hail from Gopikandar police station area and are students of a local government-run school. “Both were brought to the police station to record their respective statements,” officer in-charge of Gopikandar police station, Nityanand Bhokta, said. He added that suitable legal steps would be initiated against the assaulter.
In the video, the girl was seen in a school uniform holding a bag while the boy kicked her stomach and hips in an abandoned field. Both the boy and girl are tribals and as per local sources, the boy was beating her up for apparently having an affair with a non-tribal.
