Implementation of CUET in state not feasible: Guv to Union min

Ranchi: Governor-cum-chancellor of universities Ramesh Bais has written a letter to Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan regarding difficulty in implementing Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for the undergraduate programmes from the academic session of 2022-2023.
Bais said most of the students, especially the girls of tribal and backward communities, belong to poor socio-economic background.
They cannot afford the Rs 500-600 application fee, and this may result in increase in the number of drop-outs. He also mentioned that the last date for applying for CUET exam is May 22, but there is no clarity about the syllabus and the pattern of examination.
An official communique from the Raj Bhavan said a letter from UGC chairman was obtained, directing the universities to adopt CUET for admissions to UG courses.
“We contacted the vice chancellors and department of higher education for implementation of CUET in admissions for the session 2022-23 but they communicated certain practical difficulties facing the students in remote and rural Jharkhand.”
