Guwahati: Union home minister Amit
Shah, who is on a two-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh from Saturday, said the MHA has prepared a three-pronged plan for creating a dispute-free, insurgency and weapon-free developed northeast India.
“We will take three approaches for development of the northeast — preservation and promotion of the indigenous cultures and languages of the region, ending all disputes among the northeastern states and make it free from insurgency and thirdly, we want to make the eight states the most developed in the country,” Shah said while attending the golden jubilee celebrations of Ramakrishna Mission School at Narottam Nagar in Tirap district.
Shah added that it was only after
Narendra Modi became the PM, the differences between the northeast and Delhi has ended.
“Between 2014 and 2022,
PM Modi has ended differences between the northeast and Delhi. No one cared about the languages of the northeast but the PM has given importance to them,” he said. “The PM Modi started transforming northeast from 2014,” he added. Referring to the inter-state boundary disputes among states in the region, Shah said, “Sixty per cent of the boundary dispute between
Assam and
Meghalaya has been resolved peacefully. I am optimistic that the boundary issue between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh will be resolved by the end of 2023.”
Underlining the Centre’s ongoing efforts to make the northeast insurgency-free, he said 9,000 militants from the region have surrendered during the last eight years of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.
