ED summons to past and present DMOs of Ranchi

Ranchi: The enforcement directorate (ED) will question past and present district mining officers (DMO) of Ranchi in connection with its ongoing investigation into irregularities and money laundering with the involvement of the mining department.
Meanwhile, BJP’s Godda MP Nishikant Dubey, who has been frequently tweeting in context with the ongoing investigation, had taken the social media platform to inform that ED has summoned the former DMO, Satyajit Kumar, and the present DMO, Sanjay Kumar, to appear before it in connection with the investigation.
Notably, senior IAS officer Pooja Singhal and her husband’s chartered accountant Suman Kumar have already been arrested in the case in connection with the multi-crore MGNREGA and money laundering scams. The ED has, however, expanded its scope of investigation to include the mining department as well. Singhal was secretary of the mines department before she was suspended.
The ED probe is reportedly including the controversial stone mining lease awarded to chief minister Hemant Soren in Angara area of Ranchi when Satyajit was the DMO. He subsequently resigned from the job but later on rejoined the service. He is currently awaiting posting.
