Triple suicide in Delhi's Vasant Vihar, woman and 2 daughters found dead

Three members of a family were found dead in a flat in Delhi's Vasant Vihar area on Saturday in a suspected case of suicide. A woman and her two daughters were found dead inside their house. The police suspect that the three died of “suffocation”. A suicide note was recovered from the scene.

According to DCP South West, the police received a call from the PCR that a room in Vasant Apartment Society was locked from inside and the people were not opening the door.

Delhi Police broke the door open and found three dead bodies in the house. The bodies of Manju and her two daughters, Anshika and Anku, were found on the bed in the inner room.

As per preliminary investigation, all three died of suffocation. The door of the room was locked from inside, and the windows were also closed.

Further investigation revealed that an 'angithi' (fireplace) was burning in the house and the gas cylinder was partially open.

The police said the father had died in April 2021 due to Covid and since then the family was in depression. The wife, Manju, was bed-ridden due to illness.

Police took the bodies for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway.
