MC’s attempt to remove illegal structures faces opposition

Ludhiana: When tehbazaari officials tried to remove temporary shanties and a few structures from the roadside from Shivpuri to Jalandhar bypass, the encroachers protested and stopped the officials. The officials claimed that a few shanties had mushroomed alongside the road. The municipal corporation (MC) officials had taken along with a team of police officials for the encroachment drive. The officials said police had to use force to control the encroachers when they started becoming abusive towards the them. Secretary of MC, Tajinder Panchi said, “The drive was carried out after receiving complaints about these encroachments at the main road from Shivpuri towards Jalandhar bypass. Around a dozen such structures were removed by the staff.”
