2 held for duping med student of ₹30 lakh for seat

Bhubaneswar: Police on Saturday arrested two inter-state fraudsters for allegedly duping a candidate of Rs 30 lakh by promising him a seat in the gynaecology department of a private medical college hospital here.
Nine mobile phones, two laptops and Rs 10 lakh cash were seized from the fraudsters — Sugat Chaudhury of West Bengal and Abhimanyu Singh of Bihar. The accused were brought from their respective native places and produced at a local court here, which remanded them in judicial custody.
The police said the victim is a final-year student at the medical college. “The student, from West Bengal, came in contact with the fraudsters who had promised her a PG seat in the same college. After he paid the money, the fraudsters could not be contacted,” said DCP Prateek Singh.TNN
