CB records bishop’s statement

Thiruvananthapuram: The crime branch sleuths have recorded the statement of Neyyattinkara Diocese bishop Vincent Samuel in connection with the case pertaining to the conspiracy to kill the police officers who are investigating the actor assault case.
His statement was recorded following allegations that he had intervened in getting bail for actor Dileep in the assault case. However, sources close to the bishop denied the allegations. Director Balachandrakumar had given a statement before the crime branch that the bishop had a close friendship with the actor and he had helped Dileep to get the bail. However, the bishop dismissed the version of the director. But he admitted that he knew Balachandrakumar.
Earlier, when a reinvestigation was ordered into the actor assault case, the sleuths had taken the statement of the bishop to know his links with the actor. tnn
