Prepare to deal with rain havoc: Dist secy

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge secretary V Ponnuraj directed the district administration to make all necessary preparations against natural calamities during the onset of monsoon.
Ponnuraj was chairing a meeting to review preparations for the monsoon, at the deputy commissioner’s office here on Saturday.
“The monsoon is expected to arrive in the coastal district before schedule. Hence, officials should be prepared to deal with natural calamities and casualties. Details of rain loss should be assessed on time, and it should be updated on the mobile app introduced by the government. Compensation for rain loss should be distributed within 24 hours to beneficiaries,” he said. He also directed officials to shift people from areas prone to landslides, and other natural disasters, to safer areas.
DC K V Rajendra, ZP CEO Kumar, SP Rishkesh Sonawane and MCC commissioner Akshy Sridhar were present.
