Nagpur: Scoring good marks in accountancy helps commerce students get a better overall score and improve their percentage. For the commerce stream, it is the most awaited paper.
Accountancy is a practical subject and has step marking, which means each correct step will fetch marks. The question paper will comprise two sections with 12 compulsory questions. The term II paper will be completely different from the previous term’s paper as term I was based on objective-type questions.
Use the 15 minutes reading time to go through every question carefully. It will help to quickly overview two-mark (type-I) questions and mentally solve them.
Attempt the paper section wise. Both sections consist of short question type – I (2 marks), short answer type questions – II (3 marks) and long answer type questions (5 marks). You can began with any section of your choice but make sure to attempt all questions of one section together. Beginning with either of the sections, try to solve the type-I small questions, solve these in an average of 4 minutes each so 15-16 minutes will be sufficient to solve all four questions of this category.
There are total 4 questions of this type out of which there will be an internal choice in 1 of the questions of five marks. Try to solve the long answer questions (five marks) in 15 minutes each, which means an average of 60 minutes. Remember whatever you have written is according to proper steps as step marks are rigidly awarded, even if your final answer does not match.
Solve the three-mark questions in average 6-7 minutes each (total 28 minutes approximately). Write all steps properly even if your answer is incorrect. The good part is although there is no overall choice in the paper but an internal choice has been provided in 3 questions of 3 marks.
Ensure that your hands work swiftly with scales to make the format.
Working notes are a must for every numerical, hence don’t miss the working notes in a hurry, especially while solving long questions.
If you manage time as described above, you will still have around 10 minutes which you can use either to revise your paper or do the questions which you have left.
Begin with the section in which you are most thoroughly prepared as it will make an impression in the evaluator’s mind.
