Thiruvananthapuram: In a bid to ensure regular quality checks and safe drinking water for the public, Kerala Water Authority (KWA) has opened four new labs in the district. With this, the total number of labs under
KWA has gone up to eight.
The new labs were opened at Aruvikkara, Varkala, Athiyannur and Attingal. In addition to these labs, KWA has one district lab at
Jalabhavan, two labs at Aruvikkara and one sub-district lab in Nemam. All the existing labs of KWA are
National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories accredited and KWA’s request for
NABL accreditation for its new labs is under process. “Auditing at the new labs has been done already. Hopefully, by next month the new labs will also get NABL accreditation,” said RV
Santhosh Kumar, executive engineer of the quality control division of KWA.
The public can test water here at a cost of Rs 850 for domestic purposes and Rs 3,300 for commercial purposes. An online payment facility is also arranged. One can make payments on the website of KWA and results can also be downloaded.
