Thiruvananthapuram: The girl student of an aviation academy, who went missing for the last couple of days, was traced from Kanyakumari on Saturday. The girl alleged that she left the campus due to the harassment by the flying instructor and the students of
Rajiv Gandhi Academy for Aviation Technologies.
The girl also alleged that the complaints she made to the police, DGCA and the academy fell on deaf ears. “In January, my chief flying officer misbehaved with me and I filed a complaint to the academy. But, they all tried to cover it up and advised me to solve it. They assured me that I can fly with a different instructor," said the girl.
“In February, my student pilot license, flight radiotelephony operator licence, medical assessment certificate and a golden chain went missing from my room and I registered a complaint with
Pettah police station. Later it was found that it were stolen by my classmate as per the instructor’s direction. Later I filed a complaint against the instructor with Valiyathura police. However, the police told me that there was no provision to arrest him,” she said.
She alleged that the instructor threatened that she would not be allowed to finish the course. The other students were barred from communicating with her and she was totally isolated. Last week, a classmate read the complaint she had filed at the police station in the classroom, the girl said.
Meanwhile, Valiyathura police said they registered a case under Section 354 of
IPC in March itself.
“She was produced before the magistrate and her statements were recorded. The chief flying officer could not be arrested as he managed to get an order from the High Court barring arrest till May 31. We have to follow certain procedures in the investigation, which is on,” said
Sathi Kumar T, SHO of Valiyathura police station.
