UP: 7 killed, 3 injured after jeep rams into stationary truck on NH-28 in Siddharthnagar

LUCKNOW: As many as seven persons were killed and three others sustained injuries after a jeep they were travelling in rammed into a stationary truck on NH-28 in Uttar Pradesh's Siddharthnagar district in the wee hours of Sunday.
The jeep was carrying 11 persons. Fortunately, one person escaped unhurt.
The accident took place in Katya village located on Naugarh Bansi Road of Jogia police station area.
According to superintendent of police, Siddharthnagar, Yash Veer Singh, the accident happened when a jeep returning from a marriage ceremony hit a stationary truck parked on the roadside from behind.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep condolences on the loss of lives in the road accident. He has directed the officials to provide proper treatment to those injured in the accident.

"The impact of the accident was such that the vehicle was reduced to a pulp," said the SP.
Hearing a loud thud, the locals rushed for rescue and also informed the police.
A team rushed to the spot and pulled out seven bodies from the spot. While three others were sent to local hospital for treatment, said the police.
They said the identities of the deceased was being ascertained.

The Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from PMNRF to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the accident and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
