Coimbatore: The city police rescued three school girls, who ran away from their houses in Thanjavur district, from Singanallur bus stand here on Thursday night. A police officer said the girls were Class VII students of a government school. “They ran away from their houses at Pattukottai in Thanjavur district after their parents scolded them for not focusing on studies. The girls, all aged around 14 years, boarded a bus to Coimbatore city from Pattukottai around 12pm on Thursday,” the officer said. When some members of an NGO spotted the school girls at Singanallur bus stand at 8pm, they alerted the Singanallur police. A team of police immediately reached the bus stand and rescued them. On Friday morning, he said, the girl’s parents reached the city to take their wards back home. tnn
